1958 Sprint Car that is very nice, restored original race car that has a completely reworked Ford 272 Cubic inch V8 with original Tri powered Ford Model 01-99 Carburetors are mounted on the original aluminum Offenhauser manifold and McKee aluminum Valve covers. The engine runs very strong and sounds very nice with the Isky Cam, cross over pipe, side mounted exhaust and bullet muffler. The V8 drive train, is set in an offset angle so you have a normal shafting position is connected to a early ford three (3) speed manual gearbox and is connected to a Quick-change rear end. The car built in a birdcage tube frame design, for optimal strength. Equipped with Drivers roll bar, and rear push and sidebars for your protection (in some of the pictures, they have been removed). The completely rebuilt Suspension has an 86” wheel base, 63” center-to-center wheel front side-to-side and 53” rear wheel center side to side. The Firestone tires are correct period looking, with raised white lettering and mounted on the original magnesium wheels. The Front brake drums are original 57 Buick Aluminum finned models and all the metal and rubber brake lines have been replaced. The bright red body is constructed completely in hand built formed metal, no fiberglass. The curved cockpit dash was constructed using engine turned aluminum, with Oil and Water pressure gauges. The dash includes Fuel pump cut-off switch and a push start button. In addition, the car is equipped with a battery cut-off switch for added safety. The driver’s seat tub is a constructed of Aluminum and a vinyl-padded seat. Comes with a modern seat belt harness, which requires to be mounted (welded) into the car.
Built by Jim Magee who is famous for building Indianapolis cars and a long history of team racing. This Paul Doody vintage racer has an extensive rich racing history, which includes racing tracks located in Seekonk MA, Norwood MA, Lime Rock CT, Watkins Glen NY, Lebanon Valley PA, Langhorne PA, Owego NY, Louden NEw Hampshire International Speedway and Williams Grove PA. Also took some laps at the Indy oval track. It was even drag raced once at Colchester CT. The numerous race Drivers have been, Ed Hoyle, Garvin Cooper, Jim McGuire, Red Cummings & Dick Carman. Comes with the VSCCA 1993 racing logbook from NHIS. Vintage Racing eligible. Included in the sale is a thick binder, filled with the rich history, pictures and extensive documentation throughout its 62 years. Seen in a few pictures is an original red toolbox, which is loaded with parts and included in the sale of the car.
