Vehicle Description
It has ~115,000 miles on the clock. I got a new set of wheels and tires and kept the original set of 5 rostyle wheels. I have the original hard top in addition to the soft top, both are in decent condition. I also have 4 MG shop manuals included in the price – these have been a huge help when doing repairs.
The best part about MG’s is they’re easy to work on and parts are cheap and readily available. This car has been very inexpensive to register, insure, and maintain. It qualifies for collector plates which are less expensive and valid for 5 years at a time. It costs me less than $100/year to insure under my main insurance plan. It’s been lots of fun to cruise around town when the weather is nice!
The car has been sitting for about a year and needs some work before it is ready to drive. It started right up today (10/9) but needs a leak and a sticky break addressed before it’s ready to go on a test drive. I will try and get that fixed this fall and I am otherwise ready to sell it as is. She is ready to go to a new home with someone who has a little more time to keep her up and running.
The good:
Over $2,500 recently invested in:
-reupholstered seats
-new wheels and tires
-new rear leaf spring suspension
-new brake rotors and pads
-new seat belts
-new interior carpets and panels
-oil and fluid change
-I have a number of additional new parts I haven’t installed yet
-newer exhaust and muffler
-newer ignition coil
Needs work:
-has some minor leaks (as you’d expect for a British antique!)
-has a couple areas of minor surface rust
-the paint is not in great condition
-shock absorbers need attention
-some electronics are not working
-a number of tubes/hoses could be replaced; I have been replacing them as needed
-general reliability could be improved
-this is definitely a project car!
