Used 1978 Porsche 911 SC Targa for sale in Seattle, WA

I'm moving to Florida, and I can't bring my 911 restoration project with me - so sadly, it's time to pass the car on to someone new.

I've owned the car myself for just 5 years, but I know the 3 previous owners - so my history with the car goes back almost 25 years. And although it's starting to show some of its age cosmetically, the car has always been loved and well maintained. I drove it daily until the engine lost compression in cylinder 6, and it's been sitting in a garage ever since.

This 911 was painted silver when it left Stuttgart in 1978, but was resprayed black by a previous owner. 3/4 of the body panels were just resprayed in 2017 by Bernard's Import Body Works and present nicely. There is no observable rust anywhere. The cork interior could definitely use a refresh - the seats are intact, but they need to be recovered. I'd planned to convert the interior to black (I have most of a black interior available if the buyer is interested). There's an expensive aftermarket stereo system that sounds amazing, but sadly the original factory radio is long gone. The Fuchs wheels are in amazing condition, with a highly polished and unblemished finish. The factory air conditioning was removed at some point in the car's history, but that's what the removable top is for anyway.

Like I mentioned earlier, the car doesn't have compression in cylinder six - so it is currently non-operational. The engine case has never been opened to determine the cause of the problem (or the solution), but honestly it's probably safe to assume the motor needs to be either rebuilt or replaced (actually, that's what I had planned to do - buy a 3.6 Varioram from a 993 for $15k and sell the 3.0 as a core motor for $8k-$9k - adding about 150hp and turning it into an absolute hotrod for very little money). I have the original owner's manual and a folder full of receipts, both from my ownership and from previous owners. The CDI box and alternator were recently rebuilt and are in as-new condition.

This is a great car with a lot of potential - both as a driver and as an investment. Considering Porsche market trends over the past few years, I can almost guarantee you'll never lose money on this car unless you wrap it around a tree. Fix it, drive it for a few years, and sell it for more than you paid for it. Win/win/win. I wish I could keep it, but my circumstances are forcing me to sell - I know it's a cliche, but in this case my loss truly is your gain.

I saw a lot of interest when I had the car posted at $24,999 - but I wasn't able to seal any deals. So I'm opening the conversation to all reasonable* offers. I'll consider partial trades, too. Let me know if you're interested and we'll start the conversation.
