Vehicle Description
This car is very rare in the US and may be the only one here. Not a federalized car so no weird bumper braces and such. The car does have a US dash and headlights. Actual mileage unknown
No power options other than the sunroof. No factory cruise control, manual climate and hand crank windows. German cloth seats. No factory egr, catalytic converter or any other emissions controls. Basically nothing to break!
The car is currently registered and insured and I drive it regularly for fun. It runs and drives very well but to be clear this is a driving restoration project. Handles better than any W124 I have driven.
Good:
-Zero rust, no corrosion and nice clean fuse box
-Everything works except the sunroof motor (roof slides fine)
-HVAC system works great including the AC/Heat
-Good tires
-Good glass, all the lights work
-Does not leak anything!
-Engine starts right up every time and runs smoothly. Transmission shifts well, brakes and steering are fine
-Interior is not too bad. Expected wear on the drivers seat and some falling trim and dash cracks present
-New fuel pumps a couple months ago, complete fluids change at the same time (correct coolants etc. used)
Needs:
-Paint is badly faded with pealing clear coat
-a few dents but nothing major
-Some squeaky suspension bushings and a squeaky water pump bearing
-Car sat for a while so on occasion there is some gunk still floating in the fuel system, mostly gone by now
