The 1992 Mercedes S400 SE was itself a loaded vehicle for the time. Power everything, 500-way power seats in the front and back power side mirrors that fold in with a push of a button, power rear view mirror (super rare), heated memory seats, power tilt/telescopic wheel, Power Moonroof, integrated mobile phone in console/dash, digital WORKING A/C for dual passengers, traction control, real wood grain, supple leather interior, alcantara headliner in excellent condition, double pane windows for silence, the list goes on and on.
The driver was the owner. This is the 400SE model which has the 4.2 litre V8 and regular wheelbase. Longer models with bigger engines were driven by chauffeurs with the owners in the rear. This driver was treated to all the niceties a car had to offer in '92. The 11 speaker Bose Beta sound system was primo then and still sounds good today. Anti-lock discs all around stop the car well given its enormous weight, but the suspension and steering are surprisingly light to the touch and drivable with one finger ease.
This is a Hand Made German Luxury Car. The pinnacle of vehicle ownership. One owner has been driving this car for 184k over the past 29 years and almost cried when he finally let it go. It's a relationship worthy vehicle. Wouldn't hesitate to drive it cross country tomorrow, wouldn't think twice about driving it to work on a daily basis either. No it is not perfect, the clear coat has taken a beating after many years of wax/polish. The hood and roof are faded and would need proper repainting if you desired. The driver door window switch doesn't work, but the center console switch for the window works perfectly. The "soft close" feature for the doors works at all but the driver's door, but normal operation is fine. Trunk has no soft close feature either. There are multiple ashtrays throughout the car, but none have ever been used. Original keys (4) are still intact with the case. Original books and manuals are there as well.
