Used 1996 Mazda Miata (Clean title) for sale in Monterey, CA

1996 Mazda Miata, clean title. Asking $4,000 or best reasonable offer; includes a lot of spare parts (probably close to $1k worth). No trades, cash/Venmo/Paypal only. I'm in no rush to sell, so lowball offers will be ignored. I'd prefer if you don't make an offer on the car until you've seen it and decide whether it'll suit your needs.

This is a perfect autocross car, with predictable and progressive handling. It's set up to handle as neutral as possible but erring on the side of understeer.

It's in pretty good shape aside from some minor damage to the front-end from rear-ending a trailer hitch. The subframe brace prevented any chassis deformation behind the radiator support, and there's no effects on drivability or alignment (we checked). I did the repairs myself and documented it in a Google Photos album, URL available upon request because CL won't let me post it.

Known problems/upcoming tasks:

- Speedo cable is starting to wobble and chatter. New OEM speedo cable included in sale
- A few surface rust spots, cosmetic
- Timing belt and water pump upcoming at 195k miles, will include 3D printed cam sprocket locking tool to make this easier
- Fuel filter should probably be replaced in the next 20k
- Power steering line is very slowly weeping
- Door vapor barriers were mangled by previous owner, I patched them up as best I could when I replaced the door speakers, overhauled the windows (delrin bushings) and dynamatted the door panels
- Valve cover, CAS O-ring, and/or PCV valve is leaking slowly
- Suspension bushings are polyurethane and will eventually need grease, but they're not squeaking yet
- Air filter: 200k miles
- Spark plugs: 200k miles, NGK BKR5E-11 at 0.040 gap is what the car likes best
- Small dents and dings all over car, especially rear passenger quarter panel (parking lot)
- Pull chassis straight in the front
- Eventual repaint/replace hood and front bumper cover with black
- Windshield has four rock chips, have been monitoring and they haven't grown any in years

Maintenance already done:

- Battery: June 2020, installed a quick disconnect too
- Windows: December 2020. Fully disassembled, cleaned, lubed window tracks and assemblies, installed Delrin bushings
- Power antenna: February 2020, replaced with new-old-stock OEM factory unit, tested
- Trunk seal: January 2020, OEM
- Brake pads and rotors: May 2018, 158k miles. NAPA Premium rotors, Porterfield R4S pads
- Engine and transmission replaced with 50k mile unit at 135k miles (this is a complicated story but makes sense)
- AC and cruise control removed to save weight/improve balance for autocross (AC compressor and lines included in a box)

Condition issues not already mentioned:

- Side mirror paint has oxidized
- Front bumper and hood are from a junkyard donor car, bumper has some curb rash from previous car
- Minor wear to leather on driver's seat
- A few wheels have the silver paint starting to flake off
- Rough paint on rear bumper from poorly done touch-up by previous owner
- Steering wheel leather shows wear
- Air filter box melted onto the exhaust manifold at one point, does not affect functionality
- Driver's side LED interior light is buggy and doesn't always light up fully
- One crack in vent trim between dashboard and windshield

Parts available separately:

- OEM special-edition NA Miata Nardi wood wheel, black metal, includes horn button and hub adapter. Will require removing the steering wheel airbag and replacing with a resistor. $500 additional if you want this with the car.
