Used 1997 Subaru Legacy (lots of upgrades) 1500 OBO for sale in Livermore, CO
Vehicle Description
I purchased this car in 2016 with 236,000 miles it has been a great car while I've owned it, from commuting to road trips it has never missed a beat. This car is not beautiful, but it is super fun to drive and handles much better than stock due to the wider, lower, and firmer suspension, limited-slip rear diff and WRX steering rack. It also stops very well with the upgraded WRX brakes. With some TLC it could make an excellent rally/auto-x car.

The car has had several major part updates and Replacements completed by the previous owner at 187,000 Miles including complete replacement of the suspension, engine, transmission, steering rack, brakes, wheels, and various other items listed below. The updated and/or replaced Parts include:
1. 2006 Subaru Forester 5mt transmission with approximately 60,000 miles with hardened shift bushings and transmission mount. ( new clutch at approximately 250,000 miles)
2. 2000 Subaru Legacy GT EJ252 2.5 L engine block with approximately 100,000 miles. Installed with rear oil seal, oil pump seal, rear oil separator plate resealed, thermostat and gasket, and water pump resealed. (new head gasket, and valve cover gasket at 255,000 miles)
3. 1996 Subaru Legacy 2.5L heads ( hydraulic lifter-style DOHC) 40-60k miles
4. 2004 WRX calipers and rotors front and rear, Goodridge stainless brake lines. Front rotor/pads at 214,xxx miles. Rear pads at 230,xxx miles.
5. 2001 Subaru Impreza RS limited slip rear diff.
6. 2003 WRX sedan control arms, lateral links, and rear axles ( wider track width front and rear)
WRX sedan front struts and springs, installed with approximately 40- 60k miles.
7. Forester XT rear struts with WRX wagon Springs installed with approximately 40- 60k miles.
8. 2002 Impreza RS 20 mm front sway bar, and 1998 Subaru Outback 18 mm rear sway bar.
9. 2001 Impreza rear hubs.
10. 2002 WRX front hubs.
11. New OEM Subaru timing belt, tensioner, and idler pulley installed with engine.
12. Subaru Impreza RS front seats.
13. 2003- 2004 WRX steering rack. ( see note below)*
14. 2005 Subaru WRX 16 x 6.5" alloy wheels.
15. Trans and rear diff oil replaced at 245,xxx miles
16. New OEM fuel filter, NGK spark plugs, and valve cover breather gaskets at 236,100 miles.
The car drives well but has a few minor issues that will need attention. I believe in full disclosure and honest salesmanship.
1. One of the brake rotors( probably rear) is warped and may need replacement.
2. The airbag light on and off it's likely connector from the engine swap.
3. The check engine light is on for a bad catalytic converter (will not affect drive ability) may not pass emissions until fixed ( test not required in my area).
* 4. The steering is tight in places due to the hybrid steering linkage (legacy upper WRX lower) can be replaced.
5. The engine does leak oil looks like a seal on the front of the engine uses about 1 quart/3000 miles.
6. The front bumper is cracked minor accident
7. The front bumper, side skirts, and rear bumper are painted with a silver textured paint from previous owner.
8. The E-Brake release button is broken in the released position. ( still functional if propped up)
