Used 1997 Suburban 1500 4wd - Excellent running condition for sale in Emerson, NJ
Vehicle Description
The not so good (nothing major)
- It burns a little oil, looks like it is coming from the rear of one of the valve covers or perhaps the lower intake manifold. It looks/feels like someone tried to rtv the back of the manifold to stop the leak but it still burns a little oil. I've owned the truck almost a full year and only added about half a quart of oil total (recent oil change in late September)
- The rear heat doesn't work (front works fine). The coolant lines running to the rear HVAC module were cut and capped by the previous owner due to a leak. I never got around to looking at it. A/C still works front and rear.
- The paint/body shows its age but isn't awful. The clear coat/paint on the hood has faded, there are numerous dents, dings and scratches (nothing terrible, the worst being the passenger front fender), and some rust on the bottom of both rear quarters.
Just trying to be honest with everything here..
Now, the good:
- EVERYTHING WORKS except the rear heat (as described above). A/C works but will probably need a slight recharge. I put about a pound of R134a in it back in May and it cranked ice cold all summer. All the windows/locks work, trans shifts smoothly through all 4 gears, 4WD works, even all the interior/dash lights (I changed a few bulbs).
- The interior, for its age, is IMMACULATE. Other than a small repairable seam rip on the driver's seat, the leather and carpet are in amazing shape.
- Truck does not sputter, stall, overheat, rattle, or squeal. There are no warning lights (Check engine, ABS, brake, etc) and I can verify with a scanner.
Inspection is good until February 2021. Included in the sale is a set of valve cover gaskets and complete set of brake lines (except for the one line I replaced which blew back in August, common failure with these trucks). While you may not want to make this truck a 100 mile per day commuter it would make a perfect backup/weekend/hauler/bad weather/whatever you need it for vehicle. Keep up with basic maintenance and these old Suburbans will run forever!
