Used 1998 Volkswagen GTI MK3 5-Speed Manual Low Mileage - cars & trucks -... for sale in Romeoville, IL

Have for sale my 1998 Volkswagen GTI 2.0 Hatchback in 5-Speed Manual. The car has 85k original miles and a clean title issued back in September of 1999. Over 25 service records on a Clean Carfax. It starts right up every time and drives very well. Everything works well, ice cold A/C, warm heat. Dealer maintained vehicle. Very fun and hard to find car now a days.

The car runs and drives great. Fully factory stock. No leaks of any fluids. No check engine light or any other warning lights. It has pretty much brand new Cooper tires all around with great tread and brakes are great as well with lots of life left. The car has been serviced at Fletcher Jones VW of Chicago for most of the bigger services. All recommended services done at the respective mileage. Front wheel bearings, strut mounts, oil pan gasket, valve cover gaskets all done at 57k, new radiator and fuel filter and inductive system servicing done at 63k, new drive belts and all fluid systems flushed and checked at 84k. Clutch is great on it, no slippage, transmission shifts smooth through every gear. Reverse wants to pop out when the car is warmed up so I always just hold my hand on the shifter to keep it in reverse when I’m R for a extended time. Other than that car runs and drives great. Car starts everytime, and is a fun little car to drive. Also the exhaust does have a slight leak but nothing a muffler shop wouldn’t be able to patch up.

The body of the car is the downside of the car, being a car of this age and being in the Midwest, it does have its fair share of rust. Passenger fender and door, qp has some by the gas door, drivers side qp and and door and a bit on the front fender as well. The body has definitely seen better days. There’s a few marks and scratches here and there on the bumpers and it’s missing a front drivers blinker cover. Interior of the car is in great shape, no tears or rips or stains. Radio works intermittently, other than that everything else works, all lights, A/C is ice cold, heat is warm. Overall it’s a great car mechanically, body has definitely seen better days. Fun car to daily or to restore.
