I have owned this truck for over 7 years, and it has taken us on many adventures. Off-roading, hunting, diving, camping, hauling, farm work, and more. However, it got to the point where it needed more work than we wanted to put energy into, so it is time to find it a new home.

PROS:
Engine runs great, body in good condition with minimal rust (except bed, see below), paint in great shape, interior in good condition, frame and suspension in great condition. Rear tires in good shape, front tires getting towards the end of their life but still have good tread. Rear brakes recently replaced and in excellent condition. Front brakes in good condition. Power windows and all lights work. Has always had Wet Okole seat covers, but they are pretty beat up. The seat underneath looks good though.

CONS:
Has transmission issues. Reverse works but is weaker than normal, and first gear seams to be slipping. I shift it into 2 and then shift to D once moving to avoid 1st gear. Works better with the overdrive (O/D) off. Transmission seems to be overheating too. I just did 3 partial changes of 3 qts of fluid (9 qts total), which should translate to about a 75% change out of 10 qts. This dramatically improved the performance.

The front edge of the bed is cracked due to corrosion, and so the bed sags and squeaks, but it is securely attached to the frame. There is almost no rust on the exterior/paint. I may have a spare bed available to replace this one (I have a parts truck stored at another location but the owners of the lot might have gotten rid of it. It was there ~3 weeks ago).

There are some other minor issues: needs new air filter (K&N or similar), gas gauge doesn't work (couple issues with the solenoid at the tank, shows up in the check engine codes), small leak in the windshield during heavy rains, sometimes starts rough after rain (it is almost always parked under cover unless in use), seat back control is broken. All minor stuff that I never felt the need to fix because it was never really inconvenient.

IMPORTANT
I will be completely open and honest about any known issues with this vehicle, but it is being sold as is and the buyer must be comfortable purchasing a vehicle that will need some major mechanical repairs and some minor parts replaced. I feel that the vehicle is overall in good enough condition that it will give many more miles of service if the transmission issues can be sorted out. I am very familiar with this vehicle and have done some of the past repairs myself or have assisted friends who knew what they were doing, but I am no mechanic.

I was quoted $4500 for a fully rebuilt transmission with performance parts at Transmission Tech. There are options for having the transmission rebuilt that cost ~$1600 but require you to remove and reinstall the transmission.

Truck is registered but the stickers never showed up. I called and emailed the DMV weekly for 4 months and have not gotten a single response, so I gave up. Because I have no proof of registration, the safety check is expired. Stickers were current until 9/20.

The parts truck or any parts are available for sale. It is a 2003 Ranger. Again, it may have been disposed of but it was there ~3 weeks ago.
