This is a great little commuter car that has been very reliable for me. It is very easy to park in tight spots as well.

At asking price, I will include a set of 17” OEM Santa Monica wheels that came as standard in later MK4 GTIs and Jettas

Pros:
Good maintenance records extending back several years. Mostly oil changes, O2 sensor, occasional exhaust work, etc.

Was told by previous owner that timing belt and water pump were replaced around 110k miles with a unit that has a metal impeller (opposed to the oem plastic impeller)

Recent downpipe replacement (3” TechTonics with converter). This was replaced because the studs had failed on the original downpipe. The car is not tuned in any way but is Stage 2 ready if that is what you choose to do. Cost of the downpipe and labor was ~ $1,100 (have receipts)

Recent spark plugs and diverter valve. Replaced due to check engine faults that came up right after I purchased the car. $278 for these repairs

Shift tower has been rebuilt. Shifter motion was very sloppy at time I purchased. Repairs about $280

I have driven the car upstate multiple times and it has never given me an issue.

Sunroof, power door locks, and power windows all work as they should.

Passed NY state inspection in August

Original AWW engine code (not a fault code, the VW engine series)

Cons:
A/C does not work. I didn’t really care about this and thus do not have a repair estimate.

ABS / ECS light on for driver’s side rear ABS sensor. Quoted $140 for parts and labor. Part is ~$20 from RockAuto if you happened to be able to work on it yourself.

Handbrake does not hold. Not many hills here in Brooklyn so I never had this quoted

Cosmetics:
Dents on driver’s side front quarter panel and passenger’s side door

Non-factory headliner droops a little and detaching a little around sunroof

Interior fabric inserts starting to come off. I have some interior adhesive spray that I tested in a small spot that seems to work well

Plastic clip on passenger’s side seat that helps tilt the seat forward is missing.

Summary:
A great first car or commuter. In my opinion, what it lacks in cosmetic flaws it makes up for in utility and reliability. Tons of room in the hatch area when laying the back seats flat.

I have tried to make sincere efforts of going over the cars pros and cons so please don’t send me questions that can be answered within the ad.
