Although, I’ve NEVER been stuck in mud, snow or ice using the Michelin Pilot All Season tires (then at almost 60,000 miles), last winter (2019) I bought a set of BLIZZAK snow tires for the winter, then promptly broke my foot at Christmas and only began walking again in August. Even w/o the BLIZZAKs neither of our allroads (just sold the 2001) have ever been stuck in the snow and have made it up our long, steep and snow/ice covered driveway EASILY (when many vehicles can’t make it) every winter.
During the few miles (fewer than 300) I was able to put the BLIZZAKs through their paces – they handled GREAT! In August 2020 (when it looked like I might be driving more), I put the snows in storage and replaced them w/ a new set of Cooper All Season Tires – which may have 250 miles on them during Covid work from my home studio.
With more cargo space (73.2 cuft) than an Audi Q5 (57.3 cuft) or Q7 (72.5 cuft) and the pneumatic (Arnott) suspension system, electronically controlled, which allows a choice of four ride heights from 5 1/2″ to nearly 8 1/2″ of ground clearance, makes it a great choice for pickups at Lowes or Home Depot while still feeling like driving a sports car.
Reluctantly, I needed something that could haul a heavier RV trailer load than was safe for my Audi Q5 (which replaced my other 2001 Audi Allroad), so sadly, this Audi needs to find a new home. Too many vehicles, too few feet.
