It had a very nice engine and transmission. There are really no mechanical issues and body issues either for that matter other than a good buff and detail. Interior is still very nice shape also.
Mitsubishi Lancers are very well known to go over 300k easy and then some. The key to this car is no kids have owned it yet or raced it around. And he was always very serious about maintenence.
