Used 2004 BMW X3 3.0i manual transmission, needs head gasket for sale in Rolling Meadows, IL

This is the unicorn car that Jalopnik crowd gets excited about: 6-speed, AWD, station wagon (yes, the title says station wagon).

Time to pass my favorite car to the next enthusiast that will appreciate. I was hoping to take it past 200k miles, but it didn't make it - and I don't have the time to bring it back to life anymore.
The car most likely needs a new head gasket due to an overheat. I was on I-90 when the expansion tank ruptured and spilled all coolant almost immediately. Before I was able to safely pull over, the engine overheated and derated. I towed the car home and tested compression, it shows about 60% on #5. Car starts and idles rough, I have not attempted to drive it. The car starts and you are welcome to see the engine idling and move the car back and forth in the driveway, but no test drives to avoid any more damage to the engine. Your call whether to replace the head gasket or find a low-mileage engine. I don't have the time to do these things anymore, but you do.

I have owned the car for 12 years and am the second owner. Car has never been crashed and always been garaged, at home and at work. There is some wear on the leather, plastics and the interior (hauling kids and hockey sticks does that), but no rips or cracks. No rust although the aluminum roof rails are peeling a bit. The body is straight, but in fair shape - dents and scratches on every panel. It is not a looker but a daily driver that has been meticulously maintained and has been in top mechanical shape. All maintenance records from new are available.
Oil was changed every 4-5k miles, always with Mobil1 full synthetic. Prior to the incident the oil consumption was about 1qt every 1000 miles, well within BMW guidelines, so the oil was always part-fresh. Fuel economy has been about 25mpg on hwy and 22mpg suburban, 20-21 in the city or winter. Gobs of torque from the 6-cylinder, I barely used 3rd and 5th gears. In the last 12 months, the following maintenance was performed:
- new cooling system (radiator, tank, cap, hoses, pump, thermostat)
- new fluids (transfer case, differentials, brakes)
- new front/rear brakes with brembo rotors and pads
- new belts and pulleys
- new shifter linkage bushings
- new rear springs
- new oxygen sensors
- new front sway bar links
- new xenon bulbs
- alignment
Battery is about 2 years old, the previous battery lasted 8 or 9 years.
Rear hitch is a class 3 with 2" receiver, wiring is coiled in the trunk.
Valve cover gasket and breather and oil filter housing gasket were replaced several years ago, probably have a couple years left.
Everything works well, except the sunroof that is sticking and needs to be adjusted and lubricated. Best headlights ever - adaptive Xenons that turn with the steering wheel.
Car comes with two sets of keys, clean title, weatherTech floormats in the front and in the trunk, standard BMW mats in the rear.
