About this time last year the Cadillac was loaned to a young friend who was in desperate need of a reliable set of wheels.
He drove the car for close to 5 months, put over $10,000 miles on the engine, About five months to the day, he called to tell me that the car wouldn't start so I had it towed to the Cadillac dealership for a "no-start" inspection.
The dealership "no-start" inspection revealed that my young friend had managed to dislodge a timing chain, which caused the valves and pistons to collide with each other, leaving Zero (0) compression in all six cylinders and effectively destroying a perfectly good, low-mileage, DOHC V-6 Cadillac engine.
The Up-Side:
Unlike the 2005 V-8 Cadillac STS engine, the 3.6 Liter DOHC V-6 is a damn good engine. It's efficient, durable and quite reliable. It took a bit of searching but I managed to locate a low mileage (~ 80K) replacement engine at a Cadillac auto dismantling facility in southern California, close to Los Angeles - AND - it can be purchased for $1250 - plus shipping (if you need to have it shipped).
I'm posting my 2005 Cadillac STS on CL in the hope that my ad will come to the attention of someone who loves its style and lines, and who has the experience, knowledge and skill to install a replacement V-6 engine.

The Cadillac's Worth:
The Cadillac dealership service manager said that it had been a long time since he'd last seen a 2005 V-6 STS with such beautiful paint and gorgeous interior. With a replacement engine he valued the car at around $8,000.
It would be a real tragedy to have this gorgeous coupe end up in an auto dismantler yard. If you're interested in the car, please let me know.
