Used 2006 Mini Cooper S 67k miles Auto - cars & trucks - by owner -... for sale in Tacoma, WA

NOTE: please DO NOT waste my time (or yours) texting me and asking for me to send you some dumbass “car report”. I have sold cars here before, I know the pitch. I’m way too busy for that nonsense. I have a clean Carfax in hand, which you are welcome to see when you physically check out the car. No, I don’t need help selling it, and am in no rush what-so-ever to do so. Tabs and Insurance are good until July 2021.

Long Story on how this came into my ownership, but this car was bought from a guy in California (the only previous owner – zero rust) who didn’t really understand what he had. It was supposed to be for my wife because of the low miles, heated leather seats, automatic climate control, Bi-Xenon headlights, gray color, bad-ass rims and pano-sunroof, replacing an older Mini she absolutely loved. This Mini has it all.

When it was delivered, I sat looking at it for a long while thinking to myself that there was no way I was going to let her have it. 2 reasons – She’s a horrible driver, and people in general are a-holes and don’t respect other people’s shit – the first time this car gets a door ding, which it inevitably will, I’d want to kill someone. So I bought her a different Mini that are much more common as her commuter car (side note – bought her Mini, and mine as well, at Northwest Euro in Seattle – if you’re looking for a different Mini, I suggest you call Jason there, he runs a really good shop, only Minis.)

This kind of car doesn’t come up for sale every day. Here is a 15-year-old Mini S with zero dings or dents, with 67xxx original miles. The interior is flawless, pristine – literally showroom new – It looks like it might have just been driven off the showroom floor last week. Never smoked in, no pet odors or other funky smells of any kind. Brand new OEM all-weather floor mats still in the box. Headlights are clear. There are probably only a handful of ’06 Mini S’s like this, in such condition and low miles, left anywhere in the country.

This is a piece of automotive history. It’s really something of a barn find. The 2006 Mini S is widely known as the quintessential Mini. It’s the last year with a supercharger, not the gen 2/3 turbochargers, and the last year of Gen 1. The engines are basically bulletproof.

If you consider yourself a driving enthusiast, we suggest looking for a 2005-2006 Mini Cooper S. The S trim is a must for any performance driving and will offer a sportier ride. Options were plentiful with these model years as well. The final years of the Cooper S had the most refined tuning package available yet and offered a nicely updated interior.
Specifics about the automatic transmission: This is not the CVT transmission that comes with the base mini of the same year. This is a shiftable (paddles on the steering wheel) auto tranny from Aisin. These transmissions have known problems with the valve bodies. Luckily for the new owner, I just had it replaced, along with all new full synthetic high-performance transmission fluid, filter cleaned and all old fluid flushed. The work was done by ABC Transmission in Tacoma. These guys did a fantastic job and it shifts wonderfully. The warranty on it is 12 months/12K miles. Work was done in September of this year. Cost was $2800.00. All paperwork is included.

The Following are Brand New to this Mini, aside from the aforementioned transmission work completed:

• K&N washable/reusable air filter
• Bosch Icon Windshield Wipers
• Drive (Serpentine) Belt replaced
• New power steering hose w/ new Fluid
• Coolant Flush
• Pennzoil Ultra Full Synthetic oil changed w/ Mann Filter
• NEW oil pan gasket and crank sensor O ring ($650.00+ in fixes)
• Brand new in box OEM all weather floor mats
• Brand new Sumitomo tires - 205/45 R17 – M&S 65K mile rated
• New NGK Iridium Spark Plugs (still have the old plugs; a good indicator of how the internals of the car are working)
• TWO (2) key fobs – one is brand new from Mini - $225 each.
• Transmission service (as stated earlier) – even without the valve body, the transmission service should be performed every 30K miles and costs $300 by itself.
• Right front strut and mounts replaced, Les Schwab – lifetime parts and labor warranty
• Four-wheel alignment performed with strut replacement (10/2020).
• EZ oil drain plug installed – don’t pay insane amounts of $$ for oil changes – do it yourself. The EZ oil drain plug makes it a breeze.
• New hood lift support shocks/struts

One final detail – one of the very few things that shows this car’s age are the white hood stripes. They are cracked, which is insanely common on Minis with hood stripes, these probably from the Cali sun. I already paid to have them removed and replaced professionally, all I had to do was choose a color – but that doesn’t seem fair to the new owner. So when the new owner takes possession, they would only have to go to the place I hired, choose a color, ANY color they wanted, and it will be done. Paid in full. Their shop is located in Lakewood.

The only things I can think of that might need to be done is by the 80K mark the new owner should get the supercharger serviced. Most people don’t realize that this needs to be a regular service, like changing oil – and there may be a small amount of seepage coming from the valve cover gasket. I think on the next oil change if the new owner starts using a high mileage oil, problem will solve itself because of the seal conditioners that that type of motor oil contains.

How I’d rate this car, when taking into consideration that it’s 15 years old:

Mechanically – 9/10
Interior – 10/10
Exterior – 8.5/10

I don’t expect it to sell quickly, as there’s a limited market for this kind of automobile, and I’m perfectly fine with that – and while it certainly could be, this really isn’t a daily commuter – it’s just in way too nice of a condition. I work 3 jobs and don’t have the time to enjoy it, it literally just sits in my garage collecting dust. But on the rare occasion I do get to take it for a ride, the dumb smile on my face can be seen by everyone I pass. I really want to see this car go to someone who is going to give it the care it deserves. I have thousands of dollars invested in this car.

Car will be given to buyer with a full tank of Shell 92 Nitro, hand washed and waxed, ready to go.
