Used 2006 Toyota Prius, runs great and very reliable for sale in Athens, GA
Vehicle Description
The Good:
- Exceptionally reliable, has never not started or left me stranded
- Still gets 48-55 MPG on my commute
- I work in Milledgeville and live in Athens so this car is 80% easy highway miles
- Tires still have a lot of tread left
- I have changed the oil myself and always used Mobil 1 fully synthetic
- Has a trailer hitch for a bike rack
- Backup camera works great, stereo with CD, has aux input
- Still have been using it on long trips without any concerns about reliability. Cost of ownership is VERY low, perhaps the lowest you can get.
- There are no tears in the seats or bad wear on the interior.
The Bad:
- There is cupping on the rear tires, resulting in a rhythmic hum/shake at certain speeds. It isn't terrible but it is there. If you are sensitive to those things then the tires would need to be replace to cure it.
- The traction battery failed at 125,000 miles and was replaced with a brand new one. I expect it to have many miles left on its life.
- There is a rattle that comes from the engine at certain times and at a certain RPM. It goes away if you give it more gas or less gas, and it isn't always there. It has been there for over 35,000 miles and the engine still runs strong and gets 50 mpg.
- The defrost button on the steering wheel doesn't work, but the one on the information display is fine
- Sometimes the FM radio has no sound, so you have to turn the radio off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on and the sound comes back. This isn't an issue with CDs or with using the Aux input (like streaming from your phone).
- The cloth seats need a good cleaning. I had little kids in the back and you can tell. A steam cleaner and an hour of your time will get things looking very good.
- The paint is in good shape everywhere, but there are scratches on both sides of the car along the doors. The Prius isn't a stunning car even when brand new, so they never bothered me.
