Used 2007 Ford Escape XLT w/ V6 + 4WD - cars & trucks - by owner -... for sale in Milford, CT
Vehicle Description
It is a 2007 XLT model; gold in color, V6 w/ roughly 200 HP, "4WD" (really all wheel drive but Ford designates it as 4WD), automatic transmission, power windows and sunroof. ~138,000 miles.
I have done a lot to the car since I acquired it and I think it is now at a point where all the typical issues w/ these cars have been taken care of. I have a bulk of receipts for the work that has been done; a picture is included. The V6 engine and basics of the car itself are essentially bulletproof, so it should be good to go for many more miles.
Work & Care Done (Will note if done recently):
+ Transmission professionally rebuilt and strengthened in 2017
- Weak point of cars, noted to typically break around 90k miles; mine went around 95k - completely rebuilt and upgraded to last life of car - weak points addressed
- Transmission oil drain and fill after replacement per recommendations
+ Alternator replaced 2 weeks ago (11/20)
- Very difficult job - brand new alternator installed and working perfectly
+ New spark plugs, oil, air filter, and wipers 2 weeks ago (11/20)
- Spark plugs are a hassle on this car, should be good for another 50k miles or so
- Kept up with oil changes since acquiring (synthetic)
+ New Serpentine belt done last year
- Another hassle on these engines
+ Fresh BF Goodrich Advantage Tires installed last year @ Costco (in excellent condition)
+ Front brakes overhauled last year
- New discs and pads, 1 hose replaced; still very good condition
+ Parking brake overhauled last year
+ Battery is roughly 1 1/2 years old
+ Heat / AC working well
+ Weathertech Bug guard to hood
+ Interior relatively clean
- Tan interior, has some scuffs etc here and there but nothing terrible.
Also including some all weather floor mats, rack pads + kayak roller
*Issues*
- Has had issue w/ detecting door being opened (door/lock sensor) since I bought it
-- Will have dash light on saying door is open even though they are all securely closed
--- Intermittent issue that also would cause the interior lights to pop off and on while driving (I took the bulbs out so no interior lighting) - WD40 in the door jambs briefly gets rid of the issue, but I never cared enough to try to track down the issue as it really doesn't cause any problems other than being annoying.
- Hood has some denting from when a branch landed on it; nothing terrible, hard to really notice due to the color of the care - I just left it alone
- Some typical non-structural rusting to edges of wheel arches etc. (no impact to car)
- Could use some front tie rod ends
-- You'll hear some light clunking going over bumps; I have replaced them once myself and also had a shop do them once
-- Like $40 for parts if you do it yourself, ~$200 for a shop to do it; they seem to only last 20k miles or so and don't cause any issues other than the semi-annoying clunking noise so I left them alone for what would be the 3rd replacement.
