Used 2008 Mercury Mariner 2wd Hybrid Handyman Special for sale in Homestead, PA

Vehicle Description

2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid. 175k miles Brakes do not work. The engine and drivetrain works fine. Hybrid battery is good. Car can be driven but the brakes are bad. There also appears to be a slow electric drain that drains the battery. There is some rust behind each rear wheel that is surfacing. And the driver seat has a small tear. Back to the brakes. The dealer diagnosed the issue as an expensive HCU. I purchased a used unit for the dealer to install. They (Sturmin and Larkin) mixed it up with the old HCU programmed it and then claimed the new used unit was bad. I ordered a new to me used HCU from eBay and took it to someone else. They tried unsuccessfully to program it. In the meantime I also sent away the expensive hybrid only master cylinder ($1700) to get rebuilt by centric and installed it. It was not the issue. Bottom line is I can’t afford to try fixing this endlessly without getting anywhere. If you have access to the Ford software to program and bleed the HCU you probably don’t need to buy anything to fix this as I suspect at least one of the HCUs is fine. Alternatively, if you can fix this and will take reasonable payment only if and when the vehicle is fixed I would be willing. Accepting best offer.
