Vehicle Description
The reason the price is so high is because I had the transmission replaced this summer and the previous owner put over $5,000 into rebuilding the engine at 155,000 miles only two and a half years ago (June 2018). Rebuilt engine has only 27,000 miles on it. Used transmission has about 50,000 miles on it. 182k on the body. I have all service records from the previous owner including detailed documentation of everything that was done during the rebuild:
- short block replaced
- new water pump
- new thermostat
- new oil pump
- new oil pan
- new head gaskets
- heads cleaned and resurfaced
- valves adjusted
- new spark plugs and wires
- new PCV hose
- new oil pressure switches
- ALL engine seals and gaskets replaced
- AC system recharged
- new clutch release bearing
- clutch inspected and found to be good
Other work done to the car:
- Rear shocks replaced April 2016
- Battery is from 2017 so it should have years of life left
- Radiator, radiator cap, upper and lower hoses replaced + coolant flush August 2018
- Cooling fan relays replaced March 2019
- New tires earlier this year, lots of tread on them
- Rear window was smashed during break-in. Window replaced 2020.
- I have a new serpentine belt and 5 quarts of OEM Subaru transmission fluid that I never got around to putting in
- I shampooed all the upholstery before listing on Craigslist because we have transported our dog extensively in this car.
The bad:
- Check engine light is on. I have had the codes read twice and the only code present is P0420, which means the catalytic converter needs to be replaced at some point because it is operating below peak efficiency. This does not affect drivability at all so you don't have to fix it if you don't want to. However, Subaru makes it so that you can't use cruise control until you get the issue causing the check engine light fixed.
Other than the catalytic converter the car runs like a dream, is super reliable, doesn't burn a drop of oil, A/C blows cold, heat blows hot. All around a great car. We got the car at about 167,000 miles so we've put less than 16,000 miles on it. If you would like to test drive, please bring cash. Let me know if you're interested or have any questions.
