Used 1932 Ford Highboy for sale in Fort Worth, TX
Vehicle Description
The body is from Brookville Roadster, and if you've been looking at roadsters, you know their stuff is first-rate quality. Built a few years back and still looking good, this eyeball-burning yellow rod is pretty much the way you'd do it yourself, isn't it? The paint is two-stage urethane, Lamborghini Yellow with Pearl to be exact, and it's so bright that I'm sure some radioactive isotope was part of the mix. It was applied over that quality all-steel body, which also features a stock-style, louvered 2-piece hinged hood and a radiator shell painted to match, so it has that smooth look that all the top builders shoot for. Add in a chopped and raked windshield with attached chrome side mirrors, those big King Bee-style headlights on the shock mounts, chrome spreader bars fore and aft, and some killer original pinstripe work to off-set all the yellow, and you have a rod that will be welcome anywhere you take it. Sure, it's no longer a magazine winner with immaculate paint and zero imperfections, but the few signs of use you might find add character and mean you'll never hesitate taking this '32 out for a spin.
The neatly stitched dark green leather bench means that this car needs no additional funding to be all-day comfortable. Pleated inserts and simple patterns on the bolstered bench duplicate the vintage look of hi-boys of yore, but the interior is remarkably consistent with matching door panels, plush green carpets, and a black leather-wrapped wheel on a tilt column that's a slick 3-spoke spin on the traditional track-T look. An engine-turned steel panel in the center of the dash houses a full set of white-faced VDO instruments, but all the working parts are cleverly stashed underneath in a separate panel that's out of sight. Light and ignition controls are found to the left of the steering wheel, whereas the rest of the dash is slick and clean, finished off with same pinstriping found on the exterior. There's an amplifier system and Ipod hook-up under the seat, and the short-shifter jutting out from the floor wears a neatly tailored skirt right next to a polished emergency brake lever. Out back, the trunk was fully furnished in the same carpets found in the cabin, and it also houses the relocated battery, and in case you get trapped out in the elements there's an easily removable dark green canvas top that snaps on the body in seconds.
Reliability and performance? This car has both in spades. The 283 cubic inch Chevy is a great choice for any rod that's meant to be driven, and when augmented with ZZ4 aluminum heads, a 4-barrel carb, Weiand intake, block-hugging, ceramic-coated headers and a full stainless steel dual exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers, it's extremely entertaining on the road. The block, frame, suspension, and just about everything else under the car has been dipped in the same bright Lamborghini yellow paint as the body, giving it a highly detailed look, and there's plenty of bright chrome and polished pieces both under the hood and the undercarriage. The transmission is a TH350 3-speed automatic driving a Currie 9-inch rear end, and with traditional hotrod suspension components including a straight-axle with lightening holes, a 4-bar set-up front, 4-link in the back, and coilovers in the rear mean that it has the right look and rides right. The steering is tight and the lightweight body makes a huge difference on the road, and front disc brakes are plenty powerful for this '32. Staggered Green Apple painted steelies adorned with proper chrome Ford hubcaps and beauty rings complete the vintage ensemble and sport skinny BFGoodrich radials up front, and matching BFGoodrich radials in the rear.
Traditional in all the ways that matter to you and fully finished in a way that makes people sit up and take notice, this is a fantastic Deuce roadster you can own today. Don't wait, call now!
