Used 1955 MG TF for sale in Old Bethpage , NY
Vehicle Description
1955 MG TF 1500 Roadster / 1466cc (89.5ci) in-line 4cyl 63hp engine
The MG TF represents the end of MG’s T-Series. The TF was a more modern take to the previous TD's. It was three inches lower, had a sloping front grill and built-in headlights. Gauges were located in the center of the dashboard which was ideal for left hand (American made) and right hand (British made) models.
Like the MG TD, a 1250cc, XPAG inline-four cylinder engine with 54hp powered the TF. Shortly after introduction, an upgraded 1466cc XPEG 64hp engine became the standard. These more powerful MG TF's carried "1500" badges on the side of both hoods to visually distinguish them from the 1250s. Wire wheels were offered on the 1500 as seen on this MG. These are the original wheels! This MG TF starts, runs and drives beautifully. All engine and body parts are original.
In its 2 year production run from 1954 to 1955, a total of 9,600 TFs were sold with only 3,400 of those being the 1500 model which was only available for 1955. Today, the TF is considered the most desirable of the three post-war T-Series models with the 1500 being the most valuable.
This MG TF 1500 is one of the nicest is existence due to a complete restoration four years ago. Since that time, It has been stored in a heated garage, meticulously maintained. It has been under female ownership for the past 16+ years.
Beautifully refinished in its original and very rare factory black paint, she shines like a mirror without a visible mark on it. All chrome and trim are like new! The interior is in excellent condition throughout. All features and gauges operate as intended. The MG comes with what we believe is the original top and all 4 original side curtains and the original two-sided interior cover as shown. The tool box has its original tools including the knock-off wheel mallet. There a 2 full boxes of spare parts that are included in the sale. The undercarriage is completely rust free and in exceptional driving condition.
This beautiful British classic does not reach the #1 Concourse car status simply because it has been driven throughout its life which is what cars were made for. If it were not for the fact that this MG TF has been driven as opposed to being a Trailer Queen, this is the best of the best.
