Used 1957 Ford Custom 300 for sale in Woodland, CA
Vehicle Description
PRICE REDUCED TO $8,500 firm on 3-14-2021. Originally $16,000, reduced to $14,000. I am reducing Price for the following reason.
Even though it starts up, runs, drives and stops good;
Last week I took it to a mechanic and put on hoist so I could look underneath engine to see oil leaks. The mechanic said that if I keep it or if someone else buys it, most likely it will need a different motor, because we could see fine line crack on the engine block at a coolant area packet. If A Ford 272, or 292 or 312, which would just drop in place, can not be located, then a 302 would be an alternative, even a 351 Windsor to keep it with a Ford drive power.
ABOUT 91 PICTURES – ENJOY. Some of the bad, the ugly, but the overall good. YOU LIKE TO READ, you will have a better understanding of this vehicle, if you buy it.
Based on the inquiries on this vehicle, I have lowered the price and compiled the following information in addition to the original vehicle description below. I also included more pictures that show the issue areas, therefore rust and oil leaks. I figure this provides the ugly, the bad and the good information to decide if to buy it or not.
Originally my price was $16,000 after a while I came down to $14,000, and now, I think I am closer to getting a buyer at $9,500. The reason I came down to $9,500 is that I have noticed interest in this car, but it will need some repair work. Depending on what items I fix between now and when it sells, I may raise the price accordingly.
It is an old car, 63 plus years old; if it was in a restored cherry condition, you would probably be looking at 4 to 5 times the price. I am looking at alternatives of repairs if I where to keep it (I would probably keep it if one of my other vehicles was to sell first). I have a Chevy 350 engine with a 400 automatic transmission, I am considering having put in it, if I keep it. The other consideration is to buy a rebuilt 312 T-Bird engine, I hear it would just drop in. the cost of a rebuilt 312 CID engine would be about $2,800.
WHATS NEW: The odometer shows under 17,600 miles, which I see as 117,600. I had the following put into it a new carburetor, a complete tune up; new spark plugs and wires, distributor cap etc., new disc brakes and new brake booster, replaced some of the brake lines. The two mirrors and antenna are in the trunk
PRIOR OWNER: I bought this car about 6 years ago from the second owner who had it since 1961. He had it undercoated many moons ago. I can see some of the undercoating still hanging on. Looks like he had the bumpers redone, they look great. He also replaced the door runners at entrance, they look new.
THE ENGINE: A 272 CID V8/ Two-Barrel Carburetor:
Starts up immediately, runs great. I can see several oil leaks (pictures included)
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: Automatic 2 speed, runs/drives great.
BRAKES: Professional Mechanic installed bolt on Disc Brakes and Booster, they work great
WHERE IS THE RUST: (pictures included that show the underneath of the car and areas I detect rust:) 1. The worst on rust is at the trunk wheel well and 2. Two small spots at the roof, the roof image came out skewed, the two rust areas are less than an inch in size. 3. I see bubbling at the lip of the trunk lid. Other than that it is just mostly surface rust areas underneath the car.
WHY SELLING: The reason I am selling one of my three old vehicles is because I over extended myself and it takes too much time to move cars on my driveway. Our plan to build a three-car garage fizzled out. Recently I have acquired vertigo when I lay on my back, besides my on going back problems and sciatic pains I have. So much for my sad story. Eventually I might just end up with one vehicle.
THE PRIOR VEHICLE DESCRIPTION BELOW INCLUDED INFORMATION NOT COVERED ABOVE; GO BY THE ABOVE $9,500 PRICE:

NOTE: IF SOMEONE WITH MONEY WANTS TO BUY ALL now three, $55,000.00 WILL DO IT.
Driving the 1957, I have been told it is a beautiful car
1. It starts up good;
2. The engine sounds good;
3. It accelerates good;
4. It is a good cruiser and good on the highway;
5. The brakes work well; Installed DISC BRAKES AT FRONT
6. The automatic transmission shifts good;
7. The all steel body is in good condition, a couple of rusted areas;
8. The re-upholstered interior needs some help, just needs to be refitted, no tears, the headliner looks good.
ENGINE: 272 CID V-8 / two-barrel carburetor
TRANSMISSION: Automatic two speed
BODY: All steel, a few small rusted areas: PAINT: Two tone white and blue; not oxidized, still shinny
INTERIOR: Re-upholstered some time ago, needs tightening and cleaning
RADIO: Original radio, kind of works
STEERING WHEEL: Original;
FRAME AND SUBFRAME: Original, surface rust, only rusted through at spare wheel holder.
TIRES: original 14” rims and hub caps Or as pictured;
BRAKES: Upgraded front to disc brakes and has rear drums / New Brake booster.
SALE/TRADE: Would prefer the $14,000.00 cash; but as an ALTERNATIVE, I will take $8,000.00 minimum cash and a 1974 or prior years vehicle at a value of $6,000.00, which may include reasonable cost of shipping to me, to be considered, depending on vehicle and location - no project cars, the vehicle must be running in good condition.
TEST DRIVE: To be done by owner-based on reasonable test driving.
PAYMENT OPTIONS: CASHIERS CHECK - obtained direct from bank OR Cash - turned in at bank. (Transaction to be completed at bank).
1957 FORD CUSTOM 300
To be helpful to inquiries, I decided to compile the additional information to hopefully answer more of the general questions. I am interested in selling so I am looking forward to offers.
The Vehicle Description is all correct based on what I know of the 1957 Ford Custom 300.It starts good, runs good and brakes good; and as you can see from the pictures it can look good. The prior owner had the 57 for over 55 years before selling it to me.
The reason I decided to sell it, is that I do have 7 cars: 3 family cars and 4 oldies. Our plans of building the big garage are not materializing, so my drive way is crowded. Age is creeping up on me with some physical health issues.
