Used 1970 Porsche 914 for sale in Fallbrook, CA
Vehicle Description
Prior to CPR's ownership, this 914-6 race car competed regularly from 2011-2014 in VARA and HSR racing events with a local San Diego doctor. The car was race-prepped and supported at the track by Wayne Baker Racing during this time.
The build on this 914-6 is excellent. All the bodywork has been converted to fiberglass for lightness. The fenders, quarter panels, bumpers, hood, and decklid are all installed with quick-release fasteners for ease of maintenance while at the track or in the race shop. The fenders and quarter panels are 914-6 GT dimensions. It currently sits on 7 & 8 inch Fuchs wheels. The car weighs just 1890 pounds dry with no driver.
The engine in this 914-6 is an excellent spec throughout. A Supertec built 2.5L short stroke build with carburetors, which made 244hp @7,900rpm when new. The engine currently has 26.9 hours of run time since its most recent overhaul. The gearbox is a 901 with a side-shift linkage, limited-slip differential, and custom gear ratios.
The car's suspension setup utilizes Fox shocks with external reservoirs while retaining torsion bars for the front suspension. The front sway bar is fully adjustable, and the rear coilovers are ride-height adjustable. Damping is adjustable at all four corners.
CPR race prepped the car in 2019 and exercised it at a test and tune event at Buttonwillow race track, where it performed outstandingly. It is currently corner balanced for a 190-pound driver. This 914-6 qualifies for racing in the VARA GTU class and the HSR HP/4 class. Both series have a plethora of events across the country for drivers of all skill levels.
The car will need the following to pass technical inspection at an HSR or VARA racing event:
-New fuel cell bladder (Due to age)
-New seat belts (Due to age)
-Fire system service (Due to age)
Spares:
-One set of 6 & 7 inch Fuchs wheels with Toyo R888 tires
This 914-6 is a very capable vintage race car. With a talented driver, it will compete for podiums and wins in its respective class. If you are in the market for a vehicle to go vintage racing with or a car to take to track days and have the time of your life, this is a must consider and cost-efficient option in terms of maintenance, preparation, and support. With quality preparation at the shop beforehand, this car can be raced with a two-man team or run at track days solo with no on-site mechanic necessary.
