Used Ford Escape XLS 2012, FWD - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle... for sale in Reno, NV

The vehicle is working, has passed smog test, and I renewed vehicle registration in November.

Let's start with the problems the vehicle has:

1. The check engine sign comes and goes. I had a mechanic work on it, replace all the spark plugs; however, the problem still persists. The check engine sign goes away after 3 engine stop/restart if the problem does not reappear according to the Owner's Manual. This is true, always happens with this vehicle.

2. If one tries to run the engine at high rpm (>3000 rpm) by suddenly hitting the gas pedal, the check engine sign may come up and you can feel a cylinder misfire. The cylinder misfire fixes itself in about 30 seconds, you just have to move to the slow lane and try to go at 60 miles/hour instead of 80 miles/hour and try not to accelerate. This vehicle will not work with an aggressive driver. I routinely drive at 80 miles/hour on freeway; however, the engine does not like to do so on steep roads such as going from Reno to Lake Tahoe.

3. The staff at Jiffy Lube told me that there may be a small transmission fuel leak problem at the last oil change during the first week of November. However, I have not observed any oil residue on the ground and the vehicle runs as usual.

4. The trunk tailgate latch is broken. The tailgate latch costs about $115 + taxes (O'Reilly Auto Parts) and it is easy to put it in place on your own if one has access to Torx drivers. It seems to be a common problem in Ford SUVs.

5. The windshield washer fluid container leaks.

6. Needs new windshield wipers on the front. The one on the back is OK.

Despite all the problems vehicle runs smoothly, as long as one is not aggressive.
Owner history:

1. My father bought this vehicle in 2012 and used it as a cab for 4 years. He put 230,000 miles on it and handed it to me in November, 2016. We are the only owners and all loans were paid up by the time I got the vehicle.

2. I commute to school on a bicycle, so I only use this vehicle on weekends to get groceries and get me to hiking trails around town. I have been regularly changing high mileage oil.

3. I have driven the car on two long trips: (a) Reno <---------> Sacramento , and (b) Reno <----------> Las Vegas. Despite above problems, the car never broke down.

Major repair history:

1. The engine was changed on this vehicle after about 120,000 miles. The replacement engine was bought and installed by the dealership from which the car was originally purchased.

2. The transmission was replaced after about 200,000 miles by a different mechanic --- not the dealership.
Accident history:

1. The vehicle has only been in three fender bender accidents --- scratches and dings. Please look at the attached pictures where I have tried to highlight these.
Others:

1. About 1.5 years ago, I replaced all four tires. They are in good condition.
2. The AC and hot air ventilation works.
3. The seats are all original, leather.
4. The car was never smoked in.
Why am I looking to sell?

I am moving across the country to start a new job (finished school finally, Yay!) and the cost of my move is such that I cannot afford to pay for transporting this car across the country.

I have to sell this vehicle by December 19 to a private party or Pick-N-Pull or CarMax.
