The ONLY reason I am selling this very low mileage freeway capable car is declining health from military servicer connected disabilities which make upkeep increasingly difficult.
The car is beautifully repainted in the precise factory original two-tone green, with interior upholstery salvaged from a 1956 Custom Clipper Sedan. This car came factory equipped with a rare and highly desirable Packard electric overdrive combined with a three speed standard transmission. The overdrive when engaged, still well. The master cylinder was replaced with a NOS factory part, the brakes were rebuilt, and the car is equipped with four very good condition Cooper old style, whitewall radial tires. The original rear seat bolsters are still in the cabin. I am confident this car, which has spent its entire existence in California, is in good enough mechanical condition to drive across country as is.
One non-original modification has been made, specifically replacing the vacuum powered windshield wiper motor with an electric one from a 1954-56 Chevrolet. These perfectly fit all 1951-1956 Packard firewall mounting brackets, no structural changes at all being necessary. This change eliminates the troublesome problem of vacuum driven wiper slowdown when ascending hills or long mountain grades.
To the best of my knowledge this sweet running sedan has been a California car all its life and has a been in covered, enclosed storage over 25 years of its existence. Its V-8 engine has never been opened.
The odometer, radio and gas gauge do not work. The original 12 volt positive ground electric system has been converted to negative ground so a modern cell phone charger or other accessory which uses a cigarette lighter socket can be employed.
