We are selling our beloved 1970 VW Westfalia Van we call ‘Helga’. Originally imported from Germany, the van has been our adventure & project vehicle for over two years. We have taken it on some epic trips: to Big Sur, Angeles Mountains, Los Padres, Arizona, Mojave, and of course on countless surfing trips up and down the Southern California coast. She’s been a great & reliable camping and adventure companion and a fun van to work on. We’re selling because we are moving back to Europe and can’t take the van with us.

*Features*:

> installed a bluetooth compatible radio with a mic for handsfree calls
> installed an auxiliary battery for all the internal electrical needs charged via KeyLine Chargers 12V 140 Amp Dual Battery Isolator Voltage Sensitive Relay (VSR)> installed a powerful 900Watt inverter with the ability to charge all electrical devices including mobile phones and laptops on 2x 110V outlets
> installed additional charger panel with 2x 2A USB & 12V car charger socket
> replaced an old ceiling with a new one
> replaced the main battery with a new one
> insulated the van with noise dampening floor layer
> installed brand new floor (high quality panels)
> installed LED lights for great at-night experience (different color modes)
> new window cranks & seat belts

*Mechanical*:
> re-pressurised the engine to restore its full power. Drives comfortably 70mhp on a highway
> fixed the gearbox with brand-new elements
> reworked the clutch
> installed new brake pads
> installed a brand new alternator with a fan belt to recharge batteries

*Exterior*:
> replaced front lights with Hella "Vision Plus" Headlight Lenses for better road visibility when driving at night
> replaced rear side marker lenses
> replaced both mirrors with the GoWesty’s OEM model
> painted front and back bumpers
> replaced chrome wheel covers
> bought new tires (2018)

*Cons*: (a few things you should be aware of)
> the front seats have a seat covers – it’d require a little bit of upholstery work to get them to their original state
> there is some rust (typical of VW vans) on the exterior of the car and some minor paint chipping. It’s in a much better condition than most 50-year old cars, but you’d need to put some work to make it all top notch
> this is a vintage vehicle so don’t expect the quietest or the most fuel efficient ride; be prepared to be adding extra engine oil from time to time
> the water system was old and dirty beyond repair when we bought the van so we’ve removed it; it’s a relatively small effort to rebuild it with VW OEM parts
> the bench, 5th passenger seat and rear cushion upholstery is fine but saw better days; you might want to do some upholstery work to get it all freshened up
