Used 1982 Vanagon ASI Riviera Camper (needs engine work) for sale in Lummi Island, WA

Overview/Good Stuff:
~156K total miles, lots of receipts for past work done.
~Rebuilt air-cooled 2.0L with 33K miles (needs work, see below), 4-speed manual.
~Pop top! Hardware works well, fabric/mesh in decent shape for age but you may want to replace, see below re: fiberglass.
~Propane heater, stove, and refrigerator (all worked well, last I knew); sink with manual/electric pumps; electric/water hookups.
~Mostly original (no fancy upgrades), pretty clean/body in very good shape overall.
~Ample storage (lots of nooks and crannies), curtains all the way around (1-2 homemade).
~Barely-used ARB awning (happy to keep and deduct a couple hundred, if you don't plan to use).
~CD player, front/rear speakers (decent but not amazing).
~Fun! When it runs, that is. :)

Bad Stuff:
~Doesn’t run (head gasket, I'm pretty sure). Also pretty oily underneath, so I would think you'd want to deal with that even if the main issue is "just" a head gasket.
~Some upholstery tears.
~Cracked windshield (look closely at photo of front).
~Has been sitting for most of the last 1 ½ years (could use some TLC).

In Between/Unknown Stuff:
~How much engine work it needs?! My "backyard mechanic" diagnosis is bad head gasket, but of course that could entail more than simply replacing the gasket.
~A few parts are currently removed (they're shown in the photo of the engine bay), since I was exploring the possibility of replacing the head gasket “surgically” - can put back together if you'd like.
~Auxiliary power charging system may need work and/or require a different battery (I tried to go a cheap route and that was probably a mistake!).
~Interior fiberglass condition isn't bad for how old it is, but there are a few cracks (the worst is pictured) you'll probably want to repair/reinforce.

We're selling because we now have two small children (that didn't exist when we bought this!), so reliability is a high priority (we also aren't interested in conversion) and we've gone the travel trailer route for road tripping/adventuring. Please note we live on Lummi Island, and since the van is not running I am unable to show it off-island. I'm happy to answer questions, send additional photos, etc., upon request. I am also open to the possibility of delivering the van locally (I'd have some costs I would expect you to cover) once we seal the deal. Cash only (no trades).
