A true neo-classic with a story just as interesting as the car.
At it's core is a 1984 Mercury Cougar, 5.0 V8, Automatic, 20k Miles, Leather, Digital Gauges, Power Windows/Locks/mirrors/Seats (and hand pump lumbar adjustment) Cruise, pretty much a loaded Cougar from the 80's. Digital Gauges are bright, everything seems to be in good working order! Overall vehicle condition is very good, some signs of it's age but overall a nice vehicle to show and/or drive!
Then the story. In the mid 80's the Classic Motor Carriages (of Miami) company was bought by George Levin, who re-invigorated the Kit car market and brought the company back from the brink. However, the Tiffany Classic (this car) was not a kit car, these vehicles were bought by the CMC, converted at their factory and then sold to the public. The exact number of cars built is unfortunately lost to time when the records from the CMC were destroyed, but most estimates agree "around 50" from 83 to 88. The Tiffany design was "inspired" by the 1929 Mercedes-Benz SSK roadster and one can see the similarities in the body lines as well as the (imitation) exhaust headers exiting the body, the idea being to meld the style of the SSK with the most modern luxury that Ford could muster in the 80's. In the mid 90's the Florida Attorney General would file a suit against CMC for "knowingly and willfully" making false claims about it's kits. Eventually the suit would succeed and over a million dollars of inventory was auctioned off. (not the end of Mr. Levin's woes. who in 2015 was found guilty of securities fraud linked to a large Ponzi scheme!)
Truly a unique vehicle you can jump in and live out your Great Gatsby fantasies, or perhaps take this to where you are storing your 101 Dalmatians, or just drive it to your cars and coffee and doubtlessly have plenty of interested folks to talk to!
