Used 2004 Jaguar X-Type 3.0L AWD - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle... for sale in Summerland, CA

It is with a bit of melancholy that I am selling my beloved Jaguar, left to me by Mother. She was the original purchaser of the car and took excellent care of it until her death at age 98. As one might imagine, she drove it very little and toward the end, not at all, thus the low mileage of 118,000. I’ve taken excellent care of it myself, including religious oil changes at 3-4K miles, Castrol 5-30, to be exact.

Most recently, I put in a new radiator ($575.), new cooling system including coolant pipes, thermostat, hose assembly, and spark plugs ($1,165), and a new headliner ($450). All this in addition to routine maintenance of brake pads, tires, etc.

While I took excellent care of the vehicle, my teenage son did not, and he promptly got in an accident that resulted in the damage to the left front quarter panel/fender, as seen in the photos. Miraculously, it did not impact the hood, with the exception of a very slight bend on the very corner. Another son scraped a signpost he didn’t see, resulting in minor marks on the right rear quarter panel just behind the fuel door.

The car is currently registered but it did not pass its’ most recent smog test earlier this year. Thus, it has sat idle ever since and the battery is now dead. I believe the smog issue was something about an EV leak (?) in the exhaust system that was triggering a sensor. I’m not a mechanic but that’s what I vaguely recall. He said he’d have to inject smoke into the exhaust system to find the leak and repair it. He was estimating $200-250 for the job. Does that help?

The interior is in very good condition, with no cracks in the dash, and the leather is likewise in very good to near-excellent condition. With some leather conditioner, a spray bottle of Armorall and a strong vacuum, the interior would be close to excellent. As the car was “garaged” for virtually of its’ life, it did serve to protect the interior and exterior.

Finally, the car drove very well and smoothly, though it did sometimes exhibit “hesitation” when entering an on-ramp with an incline. Otherwise, it drove and handled like a dream. With some TLC, it will do so again.

Kelly Blue Book for this vehicle is $1,958--$3,137, based on “Fair” condition, as it does require body/cosmetic and mechanical work.

This is a beautiful, classic vehicle that when restored will turn heads for years to come. As stated, it is a 3.0L engine with highly desirable All Wheel Drive (AWD). It does have a sunroof, as depicted in the photos.
